Dr Andrew Urbhan
BSc (Hons) Osteo
Australian Osteopathic Association
If you would like to see the back of back ache and learn to breathe easy, then Andrew is your man! Having trained in London at Middlesex University, Andrew arrived to the Sunshine Coast in 2004 with a partner and two little ones in tow. Andrew and the osteopathic philosophy will look at the whole picture, addressing the relationship between the mind and the body. Psychological factors, diet, exercise, posture and stress recognition and management and other aspects of daily life are considered when making a diagnosis.
Many mothers-to-be find osteopathic treatment very beneficial both to reduce back pain during pregnancy and also to help prepare the body for birth and to help re-align the body post birth. In addition, there is a wide variety of gentle non-manipulative techniques for use on infants and small children.
Although there are several techniques Andrew uses to treat sufferers, they all involve the release of stress and tension throughout the body to improve the movement of the bones and muscles in unison. Andrew strongly believes in the importance of finding the core cause of the problem rather then simply addressing the symptomatic area.
Andrew’s extensive experience in the osteopathy field has more recently led him to the study of the Buteyko Breathing Technique – an extremely effective way for asthmatics to control their symptoms of asthma and significantly improve their quality of life. The method teaches you breath control using breathing exercises that retrain your breathing pattern. Each of the techniques performed by Andrew are aimed not only to aid the current problem at hand, but to also assist the natural ability of the body to heal itself.
Patients generally consult Andrew for:

- Back and neck pain
